Football is a major element in the life of the city and the matches between the two local rivals inevitably bring controversy in their wake. Italy is now a force in Rugby Union, having been part of the Six Nations contest since 2000. At the moment Italy’s international games also take place at the Olympic Stadium. The other major sporting event is the annual ATP Masters tennis tournament which is held each May attracting many of the world’s top players.
Rome is also a home for music and the arts and there are many concert halls and an opera house. It is also renowned for its cuisine including many dishes based on produce from the nearby Campagna including lamb and vegetables.
